There is a chain grocery store who has finally made it's way to Texas--ALDI!!!
Aldi just opened today in Frisco and is opening on 4/22 in Plano. The Frisco location is 6951 Preston Rd. Frisco, Texas 75034. The Plano location is 2400 Ave. K Plano, Texas 75074.
Aldi is an intersting grocery store which two of my friends told me about. When they each lived out of state, they shopped there often and loved the store. But it has been about 10 years since each of them has shopped there. I think if you are not a couponer, this is the place for you to shop!!! The prices are pretty low, and they do carry everything you need like our normal grocery stores do. BUT, they do NOT take coupons.
The chain store started in 1976 in Iowa. A few things you should know about the store before you go to purchase...to get a shopping cart, you insert a quarter, take your cart, do your shopping then return the cart and you get your quarter back. Another thing is you need to take your own bags and start bagging your items during your checkout. The cashier checks you out, but you have to move your stuff so the next person can get checked out--be quick. The third thing is they only take cash and debit cards. This is not really what we are used to here, but that is how they do it. The store has wonderful standards and I believe they do reach them quite well considering teh location I visited was very small.
I will have to say I was not impressed with the store because I am a AVID couponer. But everyone has a diferent opinion.
Visit http://www.aldifoods.com for more information, to view locations, deals, etc.
Give them a visit, hope you enjoy it!
